Here you can select the units, by default they should be set to 'Template Units' and here you could change it to whatever unit you need. You may have solved this already but just in case: When you are importing the model you can click on options and a window will appear. I notice another Inventor window that's just the inventor Icon open in the task bar called AdInventorButton or somesuch. Thereby it kills every other program, of course, but even after an hour and a half of doing its thing, no response, no result. It fills up all 8gb of ram but only uses about 30% of my i5 2.5 ghz.

I'm using Inventor 2016 Pro on 8.1 64bit with the newest Mesh Enabler and have the same problem.

You need to be an Autodesk Subscription customer to download this App. The Mesh Enabler application converts mesh features to solid base features or surface. A non-expiring version of the Mesh Enabler add-in for Inventor 2014 is available via the Autodesk App Exchange for Autodesk Subscription Customers. The Inventor 2013-based technology preview of the Mesh Enabler has ended. Applying Mesh Enabler on imported STL/Saved as IPT: Locks up Imported 3dm in Inventor: Result is an 'empty' modelfile Downloaded 3D DXF again from manufacturers website and gone trough the whole process again: No change I have no 'mesh knowledge' Please, what now? I need the solid. Downloaded 3D DXF from manufacturers website Opened DXF in Inventor: Locks up Opened DXF in Rhino 5: OK Saved as STL and 3ds-file with Rhino 5 Imported STL in Inventor: OK, I see the mesh, but it's no solid. If you tick 'Load Automatically' (bottom right hand corner) it should activate the add on every time you start inventor. You need to change the load behaviour in the Add-in Manager, this is accessed through the 'Tools' tab & then the '+ Add-Ins' Icon. The graphical mesh data is converted into B-Rep Model data that can be used similar to imported solids and surfaces. After installing Mesh Enabler, right click on one or more imported mesh features of interest, and convert them into Base features (solids, surfaces, or composites) through a new context menu command. This function can be applied to individual or multi-selected mesh features or mesh feature folders.

After you change mesh settings, on the mesh node context menu, click Update Mesh.Useful for assemblies composed of many parts of different sizes. In assemblies, sets part mesh sizes to be like the part based context (part outside the assembly context).
Use a finer mesh in the stress concentration area around a concave fillet or round to compensate for the lack of curvature. When cleared, produces meshes with straight elements, which can be a less accurate representation of the model. The smaller the angle, the greater the number of mesh elements on a curve.Ĭreates meshes with curved edges and faces. For example, a setting of 1.5 limits an elements edge length to 1.5 times the edge length of the adjacent element.Įffects the number of elements on curved surfaces. Specifies the maximum edge length ratio between adjacent element edges. The value is relative to the Average Size.ĭefault 0.2 Recommended Between 0.1 and 0.2Įffects the uniformity of the mesh transition between fine and coarse mesh. Specifies the element size relative to the model size.Īllows for automatic refinement in small areas. Smaller mesh elements take longer to simulate.
These parameters specify the mesh sizing and coarseness. To view mesh settings, on the Ribbon: Stress Analysis tab Mesh panel, click Mesh Settings. For Parametric Dimension simulations, one mesh setting applies to all parameter ranges. Mesh settings are established for each simulation, and apply to the component in a global sense.
